FOR PARENTS

A simple check.
A clearer next step.

Your little one doesn’t need to read letters, name shapes or tell us what they can see.

FOR LITTLE PEOPLE, JUST AS THEY ARE

Curious, shy, chatty
or not saying much yet.

We use Plusoptix instrument-based screening to look for certain vision risk factors. Your child briefly looks towards the device while it measures both eyes.

The device does not touch their eyes, and this screening does not involve eye drops. We give them time to settle and may try again if a usable measurement isn’t obtained.

A familiar place helps.

Screening happens at the participating school. You’ll receive the date, fee and consent information through the school’s invitation.

If your child already wears glasses, is receiving eye care or needs extra support, let the screening team know through the agreed registration route.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Before, during and afterwards.

01

Before the day

Read your school’s invitation and complete its registration and guardian consent process. The invitation explains the fee and payment arrangement.

02

On the day

A familiar adult helps your child get comfortable. They look towards the device for a brief measurement. The whole interaction is usually around a minute, with extra time when needed.

03

After the screening

You receive an individual outcome and an explanation of what to do next. Follow any recommendation for a comprehensive eye examination.

MAKING SENSE OF THE RESULT

A result you can understand.

Pass

No referral was triggered by the selected screening criteria on that occasion. A pass does not rule out every vision problem. Continue routine eye care and seek advice if you have concerns.

Refer

The screening has flagged something that needs a fuller eye examination. It does not confirm a diagnosis or automatically mean your child needs glasses. Follow the advice provided with the result.

Unable to complete

A reliable screening result could not be obtained. This is not a pass. We’ll explain the recommended next step, which may be another attempt or a professional eye examination.
